If a candidate seeks to extend the hours of voting on election day due to bad weather, high turnout, or other reasons, will the effort be successful? This map shows that the black-letter law in most states fails to offer any real answers to this question. A few states, however, allow election administrators or the executive to extend voting, while other states prohibit such extensions.
